I am creating a workflow which does regular maintenance activities on a time interval. I have been able to get the the workflow to successfully open the correct applications; however, have yet to find out how to have KM take an application specific action.
For example, my workflow brings up the Cleanmymac application with then just needs the user to hit 'enter'.... but I can't seem to figure out how to set this up in KM... It's likely something rather simple, but this is my very first WF. thanks for any help!
Are you wanting to send an ⟨Enter⟩ keypress to the CleanMyMac application ? If so, you should look for the action called Type a Keystroke under the Interface Control category. The default keystroke is "Return", so you can leave that as it is. But you'll also want to click on the blue cog in the corner, and select the application CleanMyMac from the "Send To" submenu in order to direct the keystroke appropriately.
If I've misunderstood your dilemma, a picture paints a thousand words, so if you either post a screenshot of your macro and describe what you'd like to accomplish; or, even better (and usually preferred by most), upload your actual macro here; hopefully someone might be able to offer some guidance.
Hello @Bry_M, unfortunately I don't know exactly which maintenance service you want to run, so I have created an example for you to check for malware. Of course you can add other functions of CleanMyMac.
Since I use a german macOS, you have to change your macro accordingly
@ appleianer - thank you as well! Your screenshot was perfect and actually taught me something else to use! This was so helpful - this is my first time on this site and the quick responses have made this my new favorite place!
Welcome to the KM Forum @Bry_M and I am happy if I could help you.
It is not so long ago that I asked my first question as a beginner here in the forum.
Here all are very nice and helpful. So ask as many questions as you want and I know as a beginner that are not few
This is the most helpful forum I've ever been to. They help without making you feel like you asked a stupid question. I have asked a few though.
Keyboard Maestro isn't just the name of the application. It's the name of these super smart characters on this forum. They are Keyboard Maestros. It's Peter's fault though...
This is the reason I keep coming back here. This was a rather simple question and answer, yet I still learned something new. I didn't realize you could send key strokes to specific applications!! I now have some tweaking to do haha. You're the man!
