Hi, I am an amateur sports photographer and just looking at KM to see if it can speed up my comments on around 400 photos from the 4 rugby games I shoot. After selecting in Photo Mechanic I use Code Replacements for some of the comments and to put the players names in. However there are some copy and paste (plus adda word) that if a KM macro would do, I could put the trigger into my Stream Deck to execute. On the attached screen shot I can add all the comments in the “Headline” but would like to copy the player name and put it in the “Persons Shown” plus in the “Description” in front of Southern Districts with the addition of “at “ after the players name.
Is this something that can be done and I as a newbie to KM could attempt?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.
I suspect like many others here, I have no idea what Photo Mechanic is, which makes it tougher to understand what you want to do. And what is Code Replacements? Is that another app?
I'm a bit fuzzy on the entire process, to be honest. Are you wanting to use Keyboard Maestro to parse a player's name out of the headline, then paste it into Persons Shown and Description? Or is the player's name coming from somewhere else?
I'm sure you can probably automate at least some degree of what you want to automate, but can you provide a fuller step-by-step description of how you do the task manually, including which app(s) are involved? That will help us help you.

Yes. I use Photo Mechanic myself and while I don't use Code Replacements to caption a photo, what you're trying to do is easily handled by Keyboard Maestro.
From your example, it appears you manually enter the headline but would like to copy "Allan Ferrie" (in this case) so you can insert that name in other Code Replacements (and likely other images).
Take a look at Brevis -- Automating Text Expansions, a Keyboard Maestro macro itself, which will let you create a macro from a text selection that you can insert with a short trigger (;fer for "Allen Ferrie," say). That would be my approach for a large number of these substitutions.

Hi Rob, thanks for your response.
Photo Mechanic is a software programme used by the majority of sports photographers, both professional and amateurs. It is used in place of importing your photos via Adobe Lightroom due to he speed of importation and the ability to add Metadata, such as player names and descriptions. This is done through a text file that has an abbreviation followed by the players name; ie typing \s3\ would place Allan Ferrie wherever you want (the \ is the trigger to replace s3.
The info from Southern Districts on is placed there at the time you import the photos via a template. I could just tab down each section and use the \s3\ each time but I was just looking to see if it could be sped up using KM.
Hi Rob, thanks for the response. I will have a go at making the macro.
