I often forget to turn the printer off after I have used it. I’d like to have some sort of popup like an AppleScript dialog appear after some period of time after the printer is turned on, which would be easy enough to do if I could only 1) detect when the printer is turned on, and 2) if it is still on after a delay. Any suggestions how to detect these events using KM or another approach? The printer is connected to my DSL modem via ethernet. It is a Brother HL-2270 DW laser printer. Thanks in advance.
A stupid question, Why do you turn it off?
It wastes energy when it is on and unused.
Most modern printers have an auto-sleep mode with powers off the main printing engine, while leaving just enough power to detect a new print job coming from the network.

Cumulative energy wastage of that kind is not without scale or effects …
