You might've found a quick way to insert them over the past couple years (or even before), but I'll at least leave a reference for anyone else who finds it that this came to mind - Show Palette of Symbols by the legend @_jims:
Ripe for adaptation by anyone who likes the visual + using mouse to select the symbol.
And Rob's thread there starts with his version with keyboard support! Clean as usual from @griffman. Gonna try that one now and see how it compares when I want "โโฅโงโ" 
maybe I'll put a fav SF Symbol on it. ๔ฎ 
...and now I've found the old HTML symbol palette and I'm quite pleased... lotta flexibility when bouncing custom prompt code off a language model.
