So, TextEdit is not allowing you to "Save As..."
Can you try it manually?
Make a new document in TextEdit.
Click on the File Menu.
Hold down the Option Key (to show the hidden 'Save As..." Menu Item)
Does that work for you? If it does not then there might be something else going on.
