Short Answer: No.
Highly unlikely, but we won't know for sure until you try.
Unfortunately Apple sometimes (often?) breaks things with their OS updates. In particular, I would stay away from HIgh Sierra for now.
I'm running macOS 10.12.6, so you should be good with Sierra.
