Help: Macro to open specific pdfs within finder

Heya!

Framework: With a simple shortcut, to open specific pdfs within finder.

Like: Finder -> Documents -> Books -> pdf1, pdf 2.

Previous attempt:

  1. Thought about "click mouse" but got 1/+ monitors connected, different sizes for the finder windows all over the place, so might not be ideal option.
  2. Maybe "Found at image click" but I'm unsure if that might be a more complicated route.

Note: Previously got suggessted the "Select in menu item" and thought something similar might be within finder.

Hi, @katzen.

Is your objective to use Quick Look to view specific PDF documents?

As you likely know, by default, PDF documents will open with the Preview app.

I am not sure what role you want the Finder to play here. You can use the Open a File Folder or Application action to open a PDF.

Is this a set list of PDFs, or do you want to arbitrarily be able to open any PDF? And if it's any PDF, what's wrong with Command-O, which will open the selected PDF in Preview?

I guess I'm having trouble understanding what you're trying to accomplish with this macro—can you explain in a bit more detail?

Heya Jims! Objective: To open such specific pdfs with the preview app.

I infer the "quick look" is the one where someone uses "spacebar" to check something/pdf without actually fully opening it.

Okay, then I refer you to the replies by @kevinb and @griffman.

When you say "specific pdfs," what do you mean? If you just mean PDFs that you spot while browsing around finder, then I don't see the need for a macro—a double-click, or Command-O after selecting a file, will open it. But those are standard Mac actions known by everyone, so I can't believe that's what you're wanting to do.

Why is a macro required? That's the part of this request we're all struggling to understand. I assume it's related to "specific pdfs," but you haven't explained what that means.
