How to detect a headset is plugged in the jack?

I would like to launch a music app when i plug a headset
do you know how to do ?

If the headset is via USB, then Keyboard Maestro can detect that. Otherwise, it probably cannot.

The only other alternatives would be:

  • Manually triggering a macro when you plug it in
  • Triggering on something else that you do when you plug it in (eg launching iTunes).
  • Polling to see its state periodically.
  • Perhaps using ControlPlane, maybe it can detect it and then trigger a Keyboard Maestro macro.
