Whenever I'm changing anything important, or writing a big new fancy macro, Command-D becomes one of my most-used hot keys. This is the shortcut for Duplicate, and I use it on Groups and Macros all the time.

Same here. I do it for everything, even actions. Even outside KM. For example, I use that for my Logic Pro files and just give them different version names, so I can always revert to older versions.

The issue here is that accidents happen and duplicating something is a more "purposeful" action, unlike Delete, which can be accidental (especially since there's no confirmation dialog - it makes the problem even worse) or we can even decide, later on, we didn't want to delete it. Only disabling it could be the option, but that's why I added the new section to rename it. At least we won't see 50 disabled macros and think all of them are somehow useful. We will clearly see that some of them are, eventually, going to be deleted.
