How to trigger dictation?

I'd like to be able to use Keyboard Maestro to trigger dictation on the Mac and the keyboard shortcut to do that is to press the right command key twice in fairly quick succession. It seems like KM doesn't seem to want to record the command key unless it's in conjunction with some other key, so I'm wondering if there is a workaround for that.

Many thanks!

By default, Dictation is triggered by tapping Fn twice, not ⌘.

You can set it to whatever you like here:

Thanks for the response.

The FN key is in an awkward place for me for something I use so frequently, so I set the trigger to be the Command key double hit years ago and am very much used to it now.

I could of course change it to something that would work with KM, but I'd rather not have to unlearn something that's become so reflexive at this point!

Most apps have a Start Dictation item under the Edit menu:

That works for my application!

Many thanks!
