New start:
I have this macro that runs fine if I run it from the editor but it I try to use it for the time of day trigger or the typed string it fails.
The red action is where it fails. I have tried to move it down in the macro but it fails. When I run it from the editor the input field is highlighted but when I run it from a trigger the input field is not highlighted.

There must be more to the macro—otherwise, how does Keyboard Maestro know where to paste the text? All I see in the macro is a three second pause followed by a paste. Can you share the entire macro?
To do that, select the macro in the editor, click the Share button in the toolbar, share to Keyboard Maestro Forum. When the new post opens, select and copy the link (and/or image), and paste back in this thread.
