That’s probably a better solution all round as I intend to do things with the filename anyway. Such as:

  • Standardise it.
  • Create ![](xyz.png) Markdown text and embed in a BBEdit document.

I have several macros that require that the Open or Save As Dialog always set the focus to the File Name field. There are also a number of macro posted in this forum that do the same.

Here's an example that I have been using since May 2017, and it has never failed.
It copies text in the document, and then pastes that text as the file name in the Save As Dialog.
