I recently thought of an idea on how I can improve my app switching that I did with Bettertouchtool before. Now not only I go to all the apps I want with some hotkey but I can also go back to the previous app quickly as well. Here is what I did, perhaps you guys like it to and will implement something like this 
The Activate a Specific Application action has an option in it to switch to the previous application if the targeted application is already at the front:
