New restrictions in MacOS Catalina?

I know, I know, not even out yet, blah blah blah, BUT I saw that the next macOS will impose even more restriction and will make the system read-only on it's own volume. I'm sure Peter will get around those pesky new restriction, right?

I'm sure he will, but my preference would be for Peter to keep his focus on finishing/releasing KM 9.

The system being read-only shouldn't have any impact on Keyboard Maestro, as far as I can tell. The parts that will be read-only should (AFAICT) be the same as what was protected by SIP previously.

(I've heard it said that it should be easier for Apple, because rather than having to invent something like SIP, which could have potential security holes, it's just a "simple" read-only file system. I'm not a computer engineer, but that makes sense to me.)

I haven't heard anything about there being new restrictions like what we found with Mojave.

So, I would say, at least at this point, nothing to really worry about.

I'm kind of optimistic about it, actually, but obviously time will tell.

Perhaps the bigger question will be the scope for automation on the emerging iPadOS ?

Hard to imagine that Apple will really want or be able to maintain 3 distinct platforms for long. Presumably at least two of them will merge in time.

I don't think there are really going to have 3 distinct platforms. iPadOS is basically iPhoneOS "plus".

They're adding more automation to Shortcuts on iOS, so that's a good sign.
