Power Automate – Desktop Matching File to Folder

Not sure if this is the right place to ask...

Basically I'm looking for suggestions or help on how to create a flow that:

  • Scans a specific folder for their file names.
    • (We use job numbers e.g. "25647")
  • Then moves these to their matching folder name which would also be "25647".

But I'm looking for a dynamic flow to do this for every 'existing match' in the first folder to then be moved to the second 'matched folder'.

I'm really struggling to figure this out myself and I'm not sure if it's even possible with power automate so if someone knows if it is possible or not that would be very appreciated.

Have a think about your process first.

The "normal" way to do this would be to process each file as it is added to the "specific folder", one at a time, so there's not an "every existing match" to worry about.

But if you are adding a folder of files to the "specific folder" you'll need to make that clear in your question.

I will have a look there but to clarify my process I did mean what you stated last with a folder of files that need to be sorted to their own special folder. I'll make sure to be more clear when I ask in that forum.
