This script currently does not work.
What I would like is the user to select a folder, then have finder open that folder as well.
(Total noob this side, sorry i know it should be simple)

Did you happen to notice the T at the right side of the entry field in the "Open a File, Folder, or Application" action? It means that it's a text field, which in turn means that you need to specify that you want KM to open your newly defined VarFolderTest variable with the syntax %Variable%[VARIABLE NAME]%. In your case, the action should look like this:
