First time I installed KM I was prompted with the following popup.
Accessibility access to control your computer is required to use many features including selecting menu items, manipulating windows, pressing buttons, typed string triggers and the window switcher. Please enable Accessibility for Keyboard Maestro and Keyboard Maestro Engine in the Accessibility section of the Privacy section of the Security & Privacy system preference pane.
I visited the Accessibility section of the Privacy section of the Security & Privacy system preference pane as directed.
I have two questions/issues:
- I do not see “Keyboard Maestro Engine” anywhere as an option to be setup in Accessibility. I only see “Keyboard Maestro”.
- I have added “Keyboard Maestro” to Accessibility as instructed, however, I continue to get prompted.
Help!
Ahh, Apple - so many bugs, so little effort spent fixing them.
Keyboard Maestro and Keyboard Maestro Engine must both be listed in the Accessibility permissions, and must both be ticked.
Both should appear when you launch Keyboard Maestro (which launches Keyboard Maestro Engine), and you can check the status in the Keyboard Maestro Assistance window (Help ➤ Assistance, Something expected is not happening).
There is more info here: Accessibility Permission Problem
But basically, I'd say you are up to this point:
If you continue to have problems with enabling Accessibility permissions, ensure you only have one copy of Keyboard Maestro on your Mac and restart and try again.
Thanks for the help! I tried a little trick – I uninstalled KM.
I then opened System Preferences and unlocked the Privacy section. Then with this window open I installed KM. Both items show up as they should! I checked them both and all the warnings are gone.
Gotta run. Off to try out the program!
