Use keyboardmaestro on virtualbox

Hi guys, I am using a virtual Mac using virtualbox on my windows system for developing iOS apps. I want to try keyboardmaestro but I have been told by someone that my account might get disabled for using it on virtualbox.

Is that true?

Hello Rocky (@rocky):waving_hand:

As I’m aware your account might never get canceled though…. That’s completely nonsense.

There are a lot of devs out there who use KM on virtually set up Systems - might it be Virtual Box or Parallels or VMware and I’ve never heard or read about their Accounts beeing canceled.

What only can lead to issues (but not Account Cancellation) though, is working with cloud related functions and stuff since it’s getting more restricted by Apple every few years, I think. But besides that you can do whatever you want to do do with KM on a Virtual Machine based OS. Even so with other tools that might help you with your development process.

Great. Actually, I have set up everything using this tutorial to develop the ios app through my windows system and right then, a friend said this "account banning stuff" to me and stopped right there.

Then, I thought about asking about this with the real community and my decision was right.

Now, I am going to buy the subscription and use this. Thanks for clearing my doubt.

It's not KM that's the problem -- it's a licence condition that macOS only be run on machines with Apple firmware. You can virtualise macOS on Apple hardware but you aren't supposed to do it on other platforms -- that's why VM-hosting services like MacStadium have racks of Mac Minis and Studios, not generic WinTel servers.

Save yourself some pain and get a second-hand M1 Mini. You don't have to have a complete standalone system with monitor, keyboard, etc -- get it set up and then you can access it from your Win box over VNC.

Hey thank you for your kind gesture to help me, you are saying the right thing. But right now I can not afford the mac right now, but I’ll consider buying an old mac
