I, too, am curious about your rationale. I wouldn't expect you to reveal any secrets, but it seems you ought to be able to give some idea about your usage by analogy or very general concepts. I agree with @Nige_S that your use model might kickstart new ideas for the rest of us.
I don't use timeouts often, but some of them include waiting for actions that can be slowed by either unrelated or indirectly related apps or processes consuming system resources. For these, the timeout is a guess, which I may tweak after gaining usage experience.
