Can't copy all of the macros -- except one by one -- which is too much work, plz help

i just need to take the macros from old macbook to a new mac book. I have many macros and don't want to copy by one by one

any tips greatly appreciated.

Have you tried selecting the Group(s) you want to move, File -> Export -> Export Macros... and saving the file, copying that file to the new machine, File -> Import -> Import Macros... and selecting the kmmacros file?

Note: For the import, hold down the Option key to change "Import Macros Safely..." to "Import Macros..." -- it'll save you from having to enable everything, and you can probably trust your own macros!

Hi Andy
You could try to sync all your macros (KM prefereneces, «General», the second point «Sync macros») from your old macbook to a place where you will also have access from your new macbook (e.g. Dropbox or similar) and then get all your macros synced back from there to the new macbook.

i'm not sure if you are describing how to do multiple KM at once with this? sorry for being dense

You can do one or many macros, a Group of macros, multiple Groups of macros -- whatever you select in the Editor.

Try it and see -- it won't change anything on the "old" MacBook, and if it doesn't do what you want you can delete everything you imported on the "new" one.

I suggest you delete that post before the bots scrape your number...

I can get away with a lot during work hours -- but Zooming you won't fly, I'm afraid.

Starting in Keyboard Maestro on your old Mac...

  1. Select the Group(s) you want to export -- normal rules apply, Shift-click to expand the selection, Command-click to add Groups non-contiguously
  2. From the "File" menu select "Export..." then "Export Macros..."
  3. Save the file as usual
  4. Copy the file to your new Mac
  5. Open Keyboard Maestro
  6. From the "File" menu select "Import..."
  7. Press down the Option key so the "Import Macros Safely..." submenu item changes to "Import Macros..."
  8. Select "Import Macros..."
  9. Navigate to the file you copied across and open it

The Group(s) you exported from the old Mac should now be in the Editor on the new Mac.

If that doesn't work -- which bit is going wrong?

you are very kind. thanks. I have deleted those messages, as you suggest, thanks. I'll give your instructions a go. thanks again.
