I have Ctrl-N and Ctrl-P macros set up to produce down and up arrows respectively. These macros work fine for text boxes and such. But they do NOT work in browser dropdowns like the Questions & Suggestions dropdown above (for example). At least they don't work in safari or firefox. Actual down and up arrow key presses work fine.
The interesting thing is that I can record a quick macro of a down arrow press (in textedit for instance) and if I run that quick macro in the scenario above, it DOES work.
Why does it work for the quick macro and not for my regular KM macro? Seems like if the recorded macro can simulate the down arrow properly, a standard macro ought to be able to as well.
It really annoys me to have to reach over to the arrow keys when the CTRL versions are right under my fingers. Can we not get this fixed?
Is your macro triggering? As per @Airy's reply, a simple test is working fine for me here -- make sure your macro is in a Group that's active when your browser is frontmost, is enabled, etc.
But, as I said in the original post, if I make a quick macro of just a down arrow, I can play that back at the google dropdown and it will advance the selection.
I have KM 11.0.3
I'm on MacOS 15.3.2
It is possible that I missed some change I should have made along the way. I've been using KM for decades, and I've really only paid attention to new stuff in the releases.
Cheers. Thanks for any light you can throw on this.
Have a search for any other macros using the same trigger, because that one isn't enabled. It may be that you've turned the trigger off for testing or the screen shot, but it may be that you've another version in a different Group that's scoped to not be active in a Google window.
You won't want to hear this, but the same macro works fine here in the Google Search dropdown.
