Change default audio input when USB microphone connected

I'm trying to change the default system input when my USB microphone is connected. I can't seem to figure this out. Are there any existing scripts or actions that would accomplish this?

One issue I have is that whenever I reconnect my Apple AirPods, the default microphone input changes to my AirPods when I want it to stay on my USB microphone. Is there a way to set up a Keyboard Maestro script that would periodically check if my USB microphone is plugged in and, if so, change it to the primary input?

This will help when I intially connect it, but not when I step away from my computer and reconnect my airpods.
