All I want to do is to be able to get three windows into a specific arrangement on my monitor so I can do my bookkeeping in an organized manner. Specifically I want to have Safari in a window of a certain size and location (on the right, probably), QuickBooks in a window (to the left) and a Finder window somewhere in the middle. I don't care if they overlap (they probably will, but maybe not). I just would like to establish a uniform setup so I don't have to arrange them the way I want every time I do the books.
(It occurs to me that to make things simpler, let us assume that all three applications are already open and on the same screen.)
By the way, I already know how to size and place a Finder window, but am not sure how to do the same with other applications. I am hoping a single macro will accomplish the sizing and placing of all three windows.
As always, any help is deeply appreciated.
Many thanks.
P.S. I see there are two other topics that seem to already relate to this, but they apply to folks with multiple monitors. I have just the one, albeit a nice large one.
I'm assuming you're using the Manipulate a Window action, in which case you can click the dropdown menu for in where it says Front Application and select a specific application. You could also use the dropdown where it says the front window if you want to manipulate a specific window within your application of choice.
Absolutely, a single macro can easily handle three windows by using a Manipulate a Window action for each window you want to move and size. The macro could also launch the applications for you and bring a specific window to the front ready to be worked in if that's something you wanted to automate.
