The installer app “would like” to access files. Apparently we can’t trust Apple’s own installer app not to be malevolent, but we should, obviously, trust the same company’s safeguarding system, which for some reason can’t be built into that app. Then we can be treated to an invitation to delete the installer. All this because ⌘Delete on an installer file isn’t mouse-clicky enough for Apple in 2026, and it wants to help us by getting in the way, er, I mean unlocking our productivity and creativity on Mac.
Note: ⌘Delete, ⌘D and Esc won’t help with whatever sort of box this is supposed to be.
Bonus points: the best way to dismiss those pissy little not-notifications in the Finder that Apple got off someone on Fiverr who had once seen photos of iOS.
I think (but I could be wrong) that’s a TCC dialog box, (TCC is an Apple framework) which I believe means that no app, including KM, can click on them. They are specifically designed by Apple to be un-automatable.
However you can just disable the dialog boxes from appearing in the first place. One way to do that is to go into Privacy and Security in System Settings, then go into Files and Folders, then grant permission to the app to access either (a) a specific folder, or (b) full disk access.
Or you can completely disable SIP & TCC. That’s not recommended, because it’s dangerous, so I won’t tell you how.

Of course we can trust Apple's installers. But can we trust everyone else's? And if Apple obviously lets itself do something that others can't, how long before Epic runs bleating to the EU "on behalf of small developers" (yeah, right...)?
More constructively -- have you tried running the installer from somewhere else? Maybe /tmp, if it'll run from there (security again...).
I don’t think the EU would care because it wouldn’t be a question of unfair competition. Anyway, my recurring, deep frustration with Apple is due to it not finishing the job and not being consistent or considerate when it comes to UI design; instead, the wheel keeps being reinvented, and it always ends up square… or at best a squircle.
Thanks, that’s another interesting idea. I think though I feel most inclined to set up the missing shortcut keys in KM, with the macro just clicking on the right part of the image. That will be another macro for my “Apple annoyances” macro group.
And I don't think Epic would care if the EU actually care -- they'd still do it. The thing that would actually stop it from happening is that macOS is not (yet) considered a "gatekeeper".
