Normally you can simply click on the large icon to stop recording, or you can turn the recording off the same way you turned it on (note that it is technically possible to be recording into two places at the same time (eg with a Quick Record and recording into the editor)).
Otherwise, if something has gone wrong, then relaunching the Keyboard Maestro Engine or restarting your Mac (depending on the depth of the problem) would be the next step.
When I click on the stop recording button, it never works. I have to go to the KM editor, then it records switching to the KM editor. Now, even if i delete the final command (switch to KM editor), it still executes the switch. I’ve never been able to stop recording by hitting the stop record button. How do i do so?
If you are saying it is executing actions that you have deleted from the macro, then more important things are wrong.
My guess would be the communication system used between the editor and the engine has broken. Restarting would likely resolve that. The Interactive Help, Something expected is not happening might show the issue.
