Enhancement request: Quickly make an "open/activate w/ hot key" macro by dragging from Finder

I personally find it really cumbersome to make open/activate macros in KM, which is something I do a lot of. Unless I'm missing something (and maybe I am) it's like a 7 step process. I use other launchers for this and it's normally a two step process:

  • Drag in an app
  • Select a hot key

I notice currently if you drag an item from the Finder into the KM window, nothing happens. Can this gesture be used to mean "create an open/activate macro with hot key" and give it a default name "Open (item name)"? Then the only thing left for the user to do is select a hot key.

TY!

I don't know what 7 step process you re using, but I just double click on the new file in my Downloads folder, and it's loaded into the KM Editor. Then I have to enable the group which is two clicks. That's a safety feature that I don't think will ever be removed.

I believe they're talking about creating macros that launch apps or open documents, and how it'd be much easier if dropping an app or document on the editor window were interpreted as "make a new app launching/document opening macro for me, using the thing I just dropped."

That would be pretty cool if it did that.

Here is a macro to hopefully save you some time.

Open the app you want and you can just select from the drop down. It will set up the actions quickly and create a new hot key and will not work in dark mode.
