It’s probably a longshot, but @peternlewis it would be almost as awesome as palettes themselves if we could blend column numbers, icon sizes, background colors, and other palette options within sections of a given palette. For example, to accomplish something like my very rough mockup below. Additionally, not shown, I’d love to have the option of adding a border to palette buttons without having to draw it into a custom graphic, thus the ability to make palette buttons look like toolbar buttons when displayed as icon-only.
If you want something like that, you're best bet is creating a Custom HTML Prompt action.
I doubt I will add that level of configurability for palettes.
I figured it was a long shot, but it couldn’t hurt to ask, right? I’ve always been a big fan of customizable toolbars and palettes.
Then you should try BTT's floating menus. They are so customizable that it's almost too much.
And of course, you can also use them to trigger any KM macro.
