I switch back and forth on Light and Dark Modes (desktop/laptop). I need to make sure a bunch of my macros will work in both modes. Is there a better way to accomplish this.

In the mean time, you can do it with an Execute an AppleScript action and the AppleScript:
tell application "System Events" to tell appearance preferences to set dark mode to not dark mode
