"Group - by Kind" in Finder?

Newbie question (I did search, honest!). I'm trying to use a macro to force Finder to sort displayed files/directories by type, essentially clicking on the "Group" dropdown's "Kind" pick (image enclosed). I tried treating the dropdown as a menu, using Select or Show a Menu Item, but no joy. Is there a command to select these dropdowns?!

I'm using a much older version of the OS, but try Command-Control-2 as that used to be the built-in shortcut. Maybe it remains but isn't displayed, like in your screenshot.
