I have a the hot key "x" for a macro (menu item + return) when using an application, but it means I can't type the letter x ever. Is there a way to still use this hot key, but still be able to type x?
type fn + x
Or better set up a short/long press action
short = x
Long = your macro

This has been covered a few times on the forum and the conclusion is always the same: Don't use single character triggers in apps that accept typing.
Yes, you can use a short/long press, as @Frankb says, but there will always be some interference when typing quickly.
