How can I temporarily disable a key's default function?

hey people!
what I'm trying to do is temporarily change my cursor to the zoom tool in cubase when I hold down control option(to mimic Logic Pro), so I mapped out everything to work like that.

the problem is when I try to use left click (to use the zoom tool) it end up being a control click(cuz I'm holding down control).

You have to do this at the USB level, Karabiner for example can provide ways to programmatically change the behavior of any key
