I'm new to Keyboard Maestro and I'm just trying to figure out if I can mark a checkbox as checked in a macro. I know I can include a spacebar press to toggle it, but it may already be checked, I won't know in advance. And this is for non-Apple apps that don't support AppleScript. And the checkboxes are not in any defined position on the screen. All I see in the Actions are actions to set the checkboxes for web browsers. And I tried searching in this forum, but I couldn't find a solution. This seems like it should be a very simple thing to do. Am I overlooking something obvious?
You might consider using the "Click at Found Image" Action. Take a small screenshot of the checkbox you want to check while it is unchecked and use that in the Action. If Keyboard Maestro finds the image, that means that the checkbox is unchecked and the action can click to check it. If the box is checked, the found image Action will fail and will therefore not check the box. You will want to uncheck the "Failure Aborts Macro" on the action so your macro can continue if there are additional steps.
Thank you! I'll give it a try.
That worked! Thank you!!!
Great! Glad to help
Just adding that while it worked the first time I tried it, but after that it seemed to be hit or miss. I think I fixed that and made it more reliable by changing the Fuzz to 25% and changing Unique to Best. Oh, and I initially stumbled by not specifying Front Window. But now it does seem to work every time. Thanks again!
I usually make similar adjustments to the "Fuzz" and also change Unique to Best. Should have mentioned those. Glad you were able to dial it in on your own
Armed with your tip, I have now created a macro for an app that I use nearly every day, often dozens of times a day, which will save me at least a dozen clicks every time I use it. That has justified my purchase of Keyboard Maestro, which I just did. Now I have to see where else I can put it to use.
