How do I close an application? Not quit, just close

I want to close an application. Specifically Stream Deck. I am in the process of setting it up so I am in and out of the app several times per day. The application needs to close. But not quit.

This one is hard to Google because there are a lot of questions about closing the KM Application itself.

I use the Stream Deck application, and Command-W will close its window but leave the app running. Is there something more complicated about your request that I'm not understanding?

Did you try CMD-M? That seems to work for me. Creating a shortcut in KM won't give you any benefit over using the built-in CMD-M shortcut.

Are you able to explain the difference between CMD-W and CMD-M?

Command-M is minimize, it puts the window in the Dock. Command-W is close, it closes the window.

CMD-M minimizes it. CMD-W closes the window.

I want to close it even if it does not have focus. Like the Quit Action will quit the app, I want to Close.

Use the Manipulate a Window action:

You'll have to use the Other button and find the app in your Applications folder, as it's not a normal app that's visible to Keyboard Maestro.
