How Do I Use Variables in Found Image "area" fields?

I can't seem to use %Variable% or %Calculation% in the parameter fields when setting up the "area" section of an If statement. Can variables be used in these?
If so, what am I doing wrong?

You don't need to use either of these tokens since the Area fields are already numeric fields. Just enter the Variable name directly, like:

AREA[1]
