How to Attach a Popup Note to a Specific Web Page

Here is a simple macro template that I created that will pop up a note whenever I go to a specific web page.

For years I have been attracted to apps that promised to be able to let me annotate the web. It seemed like such a useful idea. But in my non-exhaustive searching, I have never found anything that satisfied me, especially for free.

Last month, an occasion arose that prompted me to build my own. And today it popped up, reminding me of something that I had forgotten about, which was exactly the point. I was so pleased that I decided to share it.

The title of the macro explains the situation, with a date so that I can regularly cull my Browser Reminder Popups group.

You may notice that I set the Large Text Display Delay and then didn't use Large Text. I originally had the reminder as Large Text, but when I expanded the note to something a little too long to read in 3 seconds, and which I wanted to be there persistently as a To Do item on my Desktop, I changed it to "in a window". With the Display Delay pre-set, it's a simple menu click to change the display style back and forth.

I have this in a group called Browser Reminder Popups. I set the group to be active for "These Apps" and selected all the browsers that I have installed. Creating a new reminder is a simply matter of copying an existing one, changing the web page title to look for, and changing the note to display. I don't think a paid app could be simpler.

I suppose I could have a KBM hotkey that will open that KBM group for editing, but I don't yet use this often enough for that to be worth the 20 minutes to create it. My hotkey to go to the KBM Editor (actually, my KBM Desktop, ⌥⇧⌘K) works well enough.

If there's something else like this on the forum, please let me know. I did some searching initially, and again now, but not exhaustively.

Great idea that I will give a try, too, thank you very much! What does the "=" sign mean there in front of the macro group name? I suppose it is part of a naming system you came up with which I am now curious about. Please elaborate!

I put the "=" in there for macro groups that I want to have at the top of my macro list because I'm working on them on an ongoing basis or because their usefulness demands editing, like the macro in the OP. The top of my groups list looks like this:

The top two "=" groups are empty, they just make a big visual break in the list. "= Browser Reminder Popups" is described above. "= Cancel =" is the top group in the Menu Bar menu which puts "Kill Switch (Cancel all Macros)" right up top in the menu bar menu where I can find it quicky. And "Reboot Cleanup" is where I'm making notes about what I have to manually clean up every time I have to reboot, so that I can eventually automate it. These are followed by the groups without a leading space after the "=", which are the groups that have stuff I'm working on.
