How to change a selected string and copy the result to the clipboard?

Hi, Sorry for asking this basic question. I am a newbie and couldn't figure this out myself.
This is what I would like to achieve:

1. A piece of text is selected (not copied to the clipboard)
2. Trigger via a hotkey
3. The piece of text is used and changed. "[[ " is put before it, "]]" is put behind it
4. The changed piece of text is copied to the clipboard so that I can paste it in Obsidian when I like to.
