Please forgive my very basic newbie question here. How do I get KM to select an option in a dialog box like this here? I would like to select the file format as JPEG.
What is the name of the action to select this kind of option in a dialog box like this? (assuming it's called a dialog box!)

You can use the Press A Button (or Press A Button When Enabled) action. Here's how it looks for Preview's Export window:
To get the right button name, click the word "Button" at the right of the action, and then have it scan the app you want to work with. Important: Open the export dialog in that app before you scan!
Then click the Button text again, and the app you scanned will be at the top, with a disclosure triangle. Check the submenu to find the button names. As you can see in my screenshot, they may not make logical sense, so you might have to try a couple before you find the right one.
