Is It Possible to Remove the Left Click When Using It to Trigger a Key

I've been messing around trying to figure it out myself however have had no luck.

I was wondering if anyone knew how to change left click to F3, (however without also left clicking).

Thank you so much for reading, I hope it is possible

Hey @Lou,

I can make this happen using USB Overdrive – my 3rd party mouse driver – complete with intercepting the click.

But – I can't get Keyboard Maestro to intercept the click. It runs the keystroke, but the click still occurs.

In my testing, it appears that is not possible. The mouse click is always passed through to the frontmost app window.

If you mouse has buttons other than the standard Left & Right click, I'd suggest using one of them. I've done this with great success.

thanks for replying, Ill have a look into different mouse programs I can use alongside Keyboard Maestro

I wanted to avoid buying a new mouse. however, I will probably end up doing this if I cant figure another way out. thank you for your reply.

FWIW, I really like the Logitech Trackball m570, which I can use for hours with no pain. It 3 extra buttons that I make good use of. All without using the Logitech drivers.

I was messing around on USB overdrive and was able to set it up where it was set to make left click press f3, however, would not change the way it behaved when using. I reset my computer and had a look in utility for anything but had no luck. Just out of curiosity, I was wondering if you had any idea what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks for reading
Lou
