On my m2 macbook pro, the cursoruiviewservice process frequently hangs, in activity monitor, it show not responding. After a few weeks observation, it seems like related to Keyboard Maestro. If I do not start Keyboard Maestro, cursoruiviewservice seems working fine. But after I start Keyboard Maestro, cursoruiviewservice would stop working after one or two days.
Does anyone have this problem? I really need Keyboard Maestro running in the background.
My Keyboard Maestro version is 11.0.4.
My macos version is 15.5.
All I can suggest is that you read the following thread. Some of the people on this thread say they have NO third party software, (like KM) and the problem still exists. How much RAM does your M2 have?
I have read this thread before. My M2 has 96G RAM.
First I stop using CleanMyMac as someone mentioned, then I stop other background software one by one, just for testing.
I will keep testing and observing.
How long do you leave your Mac running at a time before restarting? I ask because I only reboot my Mac if my memory pressure becomes too high or when I update macOS, and this would happen to me recurrently (usually after a few days of uptime). I've had this issue ever since they introduced this... feature back in macOS Sonoma. It never crossed my mind that it could be related to Keyboard Maestro but, just like you, I also must have Keyboard Maestro Engine running in the background at all times, so this is another (perhaps useless) data point.
I gave up trying to troubleshoot this and just disabled CursorUIViewService with sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/FeatureFlags/Domain/UIKit.plist redesigned_text_cursor -dict-add Enabled -bool NO. I do not notice any difference in terms of cursor/caret performance or even aesthetic, and frankly not having to look at the incredibly ugly Caps Lock indicator is a plus to me, so this... feature stays off until they fix it, if they ever even do.
me too, I only restart my Mac when I update the OS or when something goes really really wrong.
And to me, that indicator is annoying, but useful.
Your solution of turning it off is my next option. I will try for a few more weeks.
I have not encountered this issue, so I cannot check whether this information will provide a solution, but it is stated in a discussion on Reddit that automated switching of input sources can provoke the problem.
Input Source Pro… helps me switch between different input methods by application, which constantly triggers the CursorUIViewService to display the input indicator. For now, I have disabled it according to the instructions in this post, and everything works fine.
I think auto-switch input methods may be (one of) the causes. I use Hammerspoon to do that and the CursorUIViewService is frequently not responding.
I think input source switch is the cause. I turned off the switch in Keyboard Maestro 7 days ago, cursoruiviewservice process is running normally.
Thanks kevinb for the tip.
Hoping apple can solve this problem.
sorry for the ambiguous statement.
I mean, "7 days ago" I turned off the switch, now it has been 10 days and cursoruiviewservice is still fine.
My Keyboard Maestro version is 11.0.4. And I did not quit Keyboard Maestro, only turned off the input source switch.
