The 'Minimize Front Window' minimizes a window however if the window is in a maximized state, that action is not working. Any hints or suggestions appreciated. I am a newbie to KBM so pardon if this has been answered before.

Hey there! Just to confirm, by "maximized" are you referring to "full-screen"? If so, depending on the app you're in there is likely a menu item to exit full-screen which you could invoke first, and then minimize the window.
To see an example of this take a look at the macro below which takes Keyboard Maestro out of full screen and then minimizes it.
