Issue with Golden Gate (MacOS27)?

I am having issues with Golden Gate where a few odd things occur; I don’t yet know if it’s caused by Keyboard Maestro, but I’m in the process of trying to track this down. The symptoms:

• Spotlight quits working; I can’t invoke it with the normal command-key combo;

• I can’t click on things like buttons or web links;

• Scrolling will sometimes stop responding or I have to loop through open apps and go back to the desired app, before a scrollbar will respond properly

I have other extensions running so I don’t yet know which is causing these issues; this is with Golden Gate beta 3, but it started happening when I first installed MacOS 27.

Any insight would be most appreciated.

I haven't seen any such issues, but you are running an unreleased OS using a version of the app that hasn't been stated to work with it, so I guess anything's possible.

Since KM only uses official public APIs and has such a good track record, my instinct would be that KM is not going to be the culprit, but @griffman has a point.

You could also try some of these unrelated ideas:

  • Turn the KM Engine off; does the Spotlight problem remain?
  • Boot into safe mode and test.
  • Back up (again) or export any settings relevant to the software that governs those extensions and uninstall one by one until the problem goes away (hopefully); then try adding them back again, one by one, testing for issues each time.
  • Set up another account and test under that.

Clearly there are issues, because today I disabled KM, stopped the background process, and so far I haven’t had a repeat of the issue.

I just updated to beta 4; in my experience, at this point with a new MacOS version, betas are generally very stable. I still don’t know for sure if it’s not a combination of KM and some other extension, but I think the issue started when I started trying out Golden Gate…

Oh well.

It seems highly unlikely that Keyboard Maestro has anything to do with any of these things.

Keyboard Maestro has no influence on clicking normally or scrollbars, so the second and third one seem extremely unlikely. Only if they have significantly screwed up the event queue handling could Keyboard Maestro even have any possibility of affecting the first one.

Regardless, you should report your issues to Apple.

Always very costly to install these things before about the third mine-sweeping update after the public release ...

caveat emptor, look before you leap, etc.

Yet, I haven’t seen the issue a single time since I disabled KM (which I hated to do).

I’ve been using Peter’s software since the early 90s when he released Anarchie, and am a huge fan; I realize that I should never run beta MacOS, yet I do it… :slight_smile:

Just for your info - I am running Keyboard Maestro 11.0.4 and the MacOS Golden Gate Beta 27.0 on my MacBook Pro and haven't had any of the issues you mention above.

I’m going to give it one more try; I disabled it a week ago and all my problems went away. Will report back after a day or two.
