Keeps crashing! running 26.01 on studio

What is crashing, the KM Editor, or the KM Engine, or both, or something else? What version of KM do you have? Did you check the log files for the KM Editor or the KM Engine to see if there's a message in there about the reason for the crash? Did they ever work without crashing? Or did the crashing start immediately after a system change, like upgrading macOS?

It has been working fine and is one of the best utilities that I have, but a few days ago, it just quit working. The icon on the menu bar froze. After rebooting it would work - then stop without reason..
It ran ok after upgrading for a few days, then it started to quit.
Version 11.0.4
no message before or after it crashes.
I did add the app to input monitoring but not the engine because I couldn't find the engine to add.
Couldn't find the log files. Where?
Thanks for your help.

In the Keyboard Maestro Editor, see the menu item “Help > Open logs folder”. You can then open “Engine.log” to see its entries in the Mac’s Console.

KM itself is a very stable application but by checking the logs, you might indeed be able to track down a rogue macro that is causing problems.

Also consider whether you have made any significant changes to any of your Mac’s software outside KM recently (new software, upgrades etc.).

Then only files that I found is:

(Attachment Editor.log is missing)

(Attachment Engine.log is missing)

One macro fails to open again and again. I will redo that one and if helps.
Thanks

Yes, I said to open Engline.log.

Please don't try to upload the entire files! They are too big for this website, and some of the files may contain personal information. Just look at the files and look for any error messages at the bottom. If you see an error message, tell us what it is.

I found 2 macros that open files in one folder that crashes the editor. So, should I make a new folder and copy the files to it? Rename the folder?
I appreciate your help.

Without seeing the macros, it's impossible to tell if they are the cause of the problem. You seem to think that you have found macros that can crash the Editor, but does that mean that your other macros are NOT crashing the Editor? At first you said "keeps crashing" but now you are saying only certain macros cause crashes. So I'm not sure what the problem actually is.

Your last post says the Editor is crashing. In that case, you need to check the last few lines of both the Editor.log file and the Engine.log file and let us see what kind of crash message is in there.

When was the last time you upgraded the macOS operating system? What version are you now running?

Whatever your issue is, and it sounds very odd and is likely related to something else on your Mac, you would be better off contacting support (Stairways Software: Contact Us). If the editor or engine is crashing, then you can provide crash reports that might lead to resolving the issue. If it is freezing, then activity monitor samples.

Open files in what? Finder? A particular app?

Try resetting the path to that folder in every action that references it. Make sure that the KM Engine has access to that folder -- try turning the "Keyboard Maestro Engine" entry in System Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Full Disk Access off and on again. If opening in an app, try setting the action to use eg TextEdit then back to the required app again. If using "Open: with default application" try setting an explicit app to use.

Thank you. I will try that.

Thank You. I am using the advice I have gotten and seeing if the problem persists.
