Keyboard Maestro not working with Jump Desktop

I'm on a job and I have a mac set up at work but for security reasons I have to use jump desktop to remote into another mac that has connections to the server at work. I have KM setup on the mac at my desk and macros work fine, however when I try to make macros that I want to use inside Jump Desktop none of the macros work. Has anyone had this issue?

I don't use Jump, but from what I read (using ChatGPT) it should work, but that depends on the macros' triggers. For example, some hotkeys will not work, because Jump Desktop intercepts them. Since you haven't shown us your macro, it's hard to guess why it's not working.

Did you know Jump Desktop has a preference called "Use Mac Shortcuts"? Have you tried that? Is it already on?

Did you know Jump Desktop has a preference called "Sticky Key Mode"? Have you tried that? Is it already on?

Running macros "in" a virtual or remote machine can be a major PITA -- modifier keys, in particular, can be difficult to pass.

Are you able to install KM on the remote machine? (IIRC you're licensed to use KM on up to 5 devices.) That's probably the easiest way around your problem!

Otherwise, it'll help if you can provide an example of a macro that doesn't work, and also describe how it doesn't work -- doesn't trigger, triggers but doesn't do anything, etc.

As @Nige_S says, installing Keyboard Maestro on the remote mac is the way to go.

I use jump desktop along with KM and have the same macro sets on both machines. Everything passes through OK with the exception of macro groups that are only available in certain applications.

For example, I have macro group that is only available in the Pro Tools app, i have to add "Jump Desktop" to that group to access those macros while i'm connected to the machine. Otherwise it's pretty seamless.

What action do i have to add to specify Jump Desktop? do i put it with the actions? Or is above the actions where I set the trigger key? I'm a little new to KM so apologies for using wrong terminology

I'm speaking about the macro group setup criteria detailed here

That being said...you won't have a lot of luck running macros over Jump Desktop (or any screen sharing) unless they are purely hotkey + mouse actions. Anything else can't really be passed over the remote connection. Hopefully that makes sense.

So i'd highly suggest you explore installing keyboard maestro on the remote mac if it's possible!

You don't "specify" the office desktop. Keyboard Maestro will always and only run on your home machine (unless you install it on your office desktop, which some people here are advising you to do.) Keyboard Maestro's Engine will only exist on your home Mac. As such, it isn't "running" on your office machine if you connect to your office machine from your home machine.

If you show your macros, we can probably tell you what's wrong. I am not sure, but I suspect you are thinking that KM can do everything remotely. It can do a few things remotely, but not that much.
