KM hiding windows of inactive applications?

I'm having a weird issue since a few weeks ago. I think it started around the time I updated from macOS 12 to 13. I'm now on 14 and the issue persists.

I'm finding that after spending an amount of time in one application, say a browser, all other applications on other desktops have become hidden (as if by command-option-H in KM). It doesn't happen immediately, but after a few minutes.

I don't have any macros that do anything remotely like this. There are none that hide windows at all, and none that type keystrokes type anything with an H. As far as I can tell, no macro uses the "Hide Other Applications" option when activating an application when already at the front. And, I don't have anything bound to a similar keystroke where I might accidentally be typing command-option-H instead.

I know the issue involves KM somehow, because if I quit the KM engine, the issue goes away. I've tried this repeatedly: with KM running, the problem soon happens. With KM not running, the problem never happens. I've run without KM for hours and not seen the issue.

It's extremely frustrating.

Usually the best thing to do in a case like this is to check the Engine Log file after it happens. If there is a macro running that causes this, you should see its name in the log file at the end.

I don's see any correlations between the log and when windows are hidden, unfortunately.

Also, I should note that I run KM with the same macros on my work laptop, and I don't see this issue there.

The Interactive Help, Something unexpected is happening might help you.

The simplest way would be to quit the Keyboard Maestro Engine and see if the problem persists - it could be you have some other software on your Mac that is causing the behaviour (which seems quite possible given the different behaviour on the two Macs).
