KM + Keyboard + Mouse position

Hi,
first of all: Thanks for previous help!
Now, something I find trickey…
Using keboard (TABs), I end up highlightening a word marked as hyperlink - all fine.
Now I need to right click on the mouse to get the different options whereof one is copy the link, but the mouse is always somewhere else and don’t follow the keybard movements.
a) is it possible to move the mouse to the x,y position based on highlighted word?
b) is there any other way to right-click the mouse and get the options?
c) any other proposals OR just stop - not possible to make a scalable dynamic solution (hard coding of x,y not an option)

It may be possible, but perhaps not the way you want. You probably want a 100% reliable method. I can achieve high probability of success, but it depends on the app. You haven't told me the name of the app, so I can't provide a specific solution. If the app is a web browser, then it also depends on the name of the website, but you haven't provided that information either. If possible, showing screenshots of your best examples would help me to help you.

If you are using macOS 15 (Sequoia), try using ⌃Return to open the contextual menu in place of a right-click:

I knew about ^Return but I thought it worked where the mouse was, not where the selection was. Your solution seems perfect, as usual.

Thanks again Nige_S, but the word marked as hyperlink was also a tag (#word) and when using Ctrl+Return I just opened everything related to that specific hashtag. But, thanks for reaching out.

That's sounds like something specific to the app you are using -- unfortunately, you haven't told us what that is.

Test the ⌃Return method on something that isn't a hyperlink or tag -- just double-click any plain word to select it and see if ⌃Return pops the contextual menu.

If you have a shortcut clash you could try using something else to show the contextual menu -- you can change the key combo in System Settings -> Keyboard -> Keyboard Shortcuts, in the "Keyboard" section.

Hmmm, I checked the shortcut config on the mac the other day and couldn't find any specifics. At least there is nothing specific for Buffer.com on Google Chrome. I saw Ctrl+Return was triggering Contextual menu by default, but that is not whats happening. I have checked for conflicts but cannot find any.

I'm not a Chrome user, but this page suggests otherwise:

...and while you might hope that Chrome only swallows the shortcut when the address bar was in focus, it may appear not.

That may not be the entire story, though -- it still doesn't work in Chrome for me after changing the OS shortcut to something else, eg ⌥F1. But, again, not a Chrome user so I might be missing the obvious so play around yourself and see if you can get it to work.

Perhaps the simplest solution to your problem is to use Safari, not Chrome...

I love using Zen Browser and Vivaldi in UI-less, borderless mode, so switching to other browsers is tough for me. Still, I’d be curious to hear what browser(s) you use and why (maybe in another thread if that’s off-topic?)

Since I love Keyboard Maestro's ability to automate things, and things always work better with Safari, that's why I use Safari... because of Keyboard Maestro. (And because I don't trust Google's Chrome any more than I trust a criminal.)

History of Google's company motto:
2000: Don't be evil.
2008: Don't be evil.
Current:

Mainly Safari, others when required (our purchasing system requires Firefox, our Fortigate admin console requires Chrome, etc) or for testing/troubleshooting.

Safari "just works" (most of the time... ) and IMO has better AppleScript/Shortcuts support -- plus it plays nicely with KM.

And Safari is (nearly) always available. I'll drive a dozen or more Macs a day, plus iPads and an iPhone -- and various users' machines, all configured differently, on top of that. So KISS, to save what's left of my sanity...

It's also why I have what most people here would consider a laughably small number of production KM macros, OS customisations, no launcher, and few extra utilities (back to our AltTab thread). It's bad enough fruitlessly mashing ⌘Space to bring up Spotlight, only find the user's turned it off -- too many tweaks to my own system would leave me embarrassingly lost on any other!

Thanks - as always Nige.
What I am setting up will be executed automatically on a Mac Mini and from what you write, it could be if interest to discuss other aspects as well - even outsourcing.
