chuckle. i posted this a few weeks ago..
It looks as though your recipe was overlooked because you didn't post a demo macro as the replies requested. I mean no criticism; it's your call—but that will be why.
no, i didn't post a specific macro because my macro is custom to my needs. i did, however, supply detailed instructions on how to set it up and customize it which i think is far more useful. in any case it's a simple solution that performs exactly as Leader Key does using only KM and doesn't require applescript or anything else. press the leader to activate the palette, another for your function. you can even nest palettes if you wanted. shrug
Hi, @scottjl. Yes, I'd seen your thread and saw that you were new.
Welcome, again, to the forum. If you continue to participate you'll learn that this is one of the friendliest and most helpful forums on the net. You'll be amazed by the generosity and positive attitudes here.
Like @kevinb, I assumed that you might have something to upload; that's why I included the boilerplate that I often share when I spot a new forum user.
Thanks for doing that and I understand the challenge of sharing a custom configuration.
In rereading your approach (my memory is bad), I see that it has some overlap with the techniques that I use; but there are several key differences. As you probably know, Keyboard Maestro often provides many ways to skin the cat. Each technique often has advantages, thus you'll see many cases in this forum where overlapping techniques are shared (and appreciated).
Above, I tried to explain my approach (because my palettes also include information irrelevant to others); but then I decided to follow-up and share a mock up. I did this because I could see that my description was deficient and based on experience here (and my own learning style) examples are often used and well-received.
As @kevinb stated, it's certainly your call; but something to consider now and in the future.
Have a great day, @scottjl and all others!
Just to clarify: I did understand that @anon89316417 did not have a macro for general use (that's why I referred to a "demo macro") but I think it's often the case when talking about macros on the forum that "a screenshot of a macro paints a thousand words". Including the macro itself also gives the reader a starting point to play around with the idea.
Doing so is absolutely not a requirement, but may encourage more engagement.
In a sudden urge to be the first on the forum to quote T.S. Eliot :
“Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge?
Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?”
Addendum: where is the information we have lost in the visuals?
I did miss your post or I might have taken the initiative to link to it for consideration.
If your implementation, which was very clear, does what the app does--I wouldn't know running Mojave and being unable to install the app and maybe confused by the video--I wish had known sooner. I end up barking up the wrong tree more often than I like.
