Does anyone know how to detect the mouse's SHIFT and GESTURE buttons in KB? I've tried SteerMouse and BetterMouse, but they seem to be having trouble themselves. Thank you!
You first attempt should be to use the software that comes with that mouse, called Logi Options+. It should allow you to attach actions to gestures. If you want KM to detect those gestures/actions, you may need to create a macro that triggers on whatever action you assigned to the Logi Mouse gesture. My guess is that you could assign an unused function key like perhaps F20 to the gesture that you want your mouse to generate and then use that function key as a hotkey trigger for KM.
But you also might want to try KM's built-in gesture triggers. Like this: (click in the box that says Click then make a gesture.)
Have you tried either of these choices?
I've had MX Master mice for years, and I don't think those buttons are true USB device buttons, so KM won't be able to see them. You can try, as @Airy described above, but they never show up for me.
However, you can use Logi Options to program those buttons and gestures with keyboard shortcuts, so you can use them to trigger macros, which is how I have many of them set up:
The macros on the buttons and gestures are just activated via very obscure keyboard shortucts (i.e. ⇧⌘⌃+Keypad 1 key).

Thank you for your suggestion. The unused key sounds like a good work-around. Logitech's software used to allow you to use those buttons — I only noticed a change when my KM macros that used those buttons stopped working. After some more detective work, I saw that nothing was being sent to KM.
Thank you for your reply,. It's weird, but — they used to work, but when I moved from my old MX to my new one, and from Options to Options+, they stopped. They're not proper buttons but they do send information down the USB buss — it will be up to BetterMouse or SteerMouse to specific look for those IO registry changes, and…I guess create a virtual button or…something, lol.I asked the folks at BetterMouse, and they said they will be adding support at some point this year — fingers crossed.
