Sometimes I lose the first character when inserting a macro string.
I’ve tried the “Insert text” and "Type the __ keystroke.
It’s not consistent.
Help!

Have you tried adding a brief pause to the macro before the type command? Sometimes that helps.
You can also fire up the debugger to see what is going on while it’s happening.
