I'm running macOS 27 Golden Gate beta and since the first beta, Keyboard Maestro is always in the dock as "Running in Background". MacOS does not give an ignore option only a 'Stop Running in Background' option in context menu. This is due to a change where the system is trying to show users when ap…

I'm afraid it's not up to me to decide what Apple does or doesn't show in the Dock, and as noted I generally don't run betas, not unless I hear of significant issues, then I might try them on my test Mac. But this sounds more like a "feature" (as far as Apple is concerned), than a bug. Though why y…

I'm facing this issue as well. Have you managed to fix it?

As Peter noted, it's not something under his control, so he can't fix it. However, in the release version of Golden Gate, I'm still not seeing this behavior: I quit the Keyboard Maestro app, and it vanished from the dock, yet is clearly still running. Do you run as an admin user or a regular user? …

[image] griffman: I quit the Keyboard Maestro app, and it vanished from the dock, yet is clearly still running. The Engine is still running -- the app shouldn't be after you've Quit it! [image] megira: I'm facing this issue as well. Can you please clarify -- is it Keyboard Maestro (th…

I think this is the editor, though I'm not entirely sure. I've had both the editor and engine enabled to run in the background for years. I've attached a gif showing the issue if it helps. Overall the expected behavior is that when I press ⌘W, the app shouldn't appear in the Dock. [CleanShot 2026-…

[image] megira: Overall the expected behavior is that when I press ⌘W, the app shouldn't appear in the Dock. That's wrong: Keyboard Maestro does not quit when you close its last window, unlike Photos or some other apps. You have left the app running, just closed its last open window. To make…

[image] megira: I think this is the editor, though I'm not entirely sure. I've had both the editor and engine enabled to run in the background for years. Yes, that's the Editor. You can't really "enable it to run in the background", though -- the closest (AFAIK) would be to set it as a login …

This is happening to me too on the release version of macOS 27. The Keyboard Maestro editor remains in my Dock after choosing Keyboard Maestro->Quit Keyboard Maestro Editor. If I right click on the Dock icon and choose "Stop Running in Background" it is removed from the Dock, but now the Engine is…

[image] griffman: That's wrong: Keyboard Maestro does not quit when you close its last window, unlike Photos or some other apps. I see KM 11.1.1 quitting when the last window is closed under Sequoia 15.8.
