After updating Keyboard Maestro (from (11.0.4) to the latest version, I noticed an unusual icon issue:
When the Keyboard Maestro Editor is closed, its Dock icon shows the new/current icon. However, as soon as I open the Keyboard Maestro Editor, the Dock icon changes back to the old icon. When I quit the Editor, it immediately changes back to the new icon again.
I never manually changed the Keyboard Maestro icon.
I have already tried the following, without success:
Quit Keyboard Maestro Editor and Keyboard Maestro Engine.
Restarted the Mac.
Deleted Keyboard Maestro and copied a fresh copy of the latest version into the Applications folder.
The behavior remains unchanged. It appears to affect only the icon while the Keyboard Maestro Editor is running.
I am using macOS Tahoe. Is this a known issue, or is there anything else I can try?
That happens to me too. So I think it’s “normal,” and not a bug. It doesn’t bother me. Is this a problem for you for some reason? For example, are you trying to use Find Image to find the KM icon? What is the problem you want to solve?
I tested several other apps from Apple. I don‘t have many third party apps. In each case, they didn’t change their icon when they were running. Apps clearly have the ability to change their Dock icon, which seems obvious because some apps provide useful information on their Dock icon (eg, Calendar, Activity Monitor.) It seems likely, therefore, that this is a choice by the KM Editor. But most developers are wary of changing an app’s behaviour because it might break existing user macros. Do you have a reason for changing it?
@DocOck: It doesn't really bother me either. I actually just wanted to know if this is a bug, and if so, if there's anything that can be done about it.
@Peter Thank you for the clarification. I completely understand your decision. At first, the icon change looked like a bug because it's rather unusual behavior (it looked like there is a conflict with an older version of the app.) Thanks again for clearing that up!
